Epistle is web application that allowed users to connect with each other based on their interests. It picks the best rated posts from a user’s network, and all users of the platform, categorize the posts according to subscribed interests, and provides a tailored feed for users to enjoy.

Summary of scope
  • Blogging
  • Image uploading
  • User rating and commenting
  • News feed tailoring based on user ratings and age of blog posts.

Functionality

Epistle allows users to post their views and articles with up to four pictures to add some color. These posts are displayed in other users’ community pages. Users are allowed to subscribe to any available community which represents general interest. They are also allowed to create new communities.

Users can rate the posts and according to the rating given your post will go upwards in the news feed. There’s also another feed for most recent posts to give the new unrated posts a chance to move up.

The basic idea of the platform is to let people discuss their passions with a certain degree of anonymity and so the like-minded could connect with each other eventually. While main function of the website was blogging, it was evident that a social networking aspect had to be there for an enhanced and much more meaningful experience. Every user has a profile, and can connect with other uses through mutual agreement. Sending messages and discussing posts in the comment sections are also facilitated.
